Our credit was pretty crummy when we bought our house... we went through that lending tree where there are a bunch of banks that look over your information & decide if they want to give you a loan. The bad thing is, right now, because of the market & economy, not many banks are willing to give people a shot...

I know that I am just some woman out in cyber space ~ but I just wonder, is it necessary that you buy a home right now, or can you wait another year & try to give your credit score some time to get better? If you do wait & get your score up, you will end up having an approval & you will get a lower interest rate... that could mean hundreds of dollars per month! Just something to think about.

By the way - I enjoy reading your blog - I am glad that I stumbled across it.

Good Luck

Carin,Lots of moms do well with the CrockPot. I find it easier to accomplish a big goal by breaking it down into smaller steps. Some possible suggestions:
1. Invite your husband to help, but if he doesn't want to, what can you do on your own, or with the help of family?
2. Maybe just do one storage unit at a time.
3. When we moved in with my Eldest Daughter earlier this year I finally got rid of all the storage, splitting it between the 3rd bedroom here and our rural place.

I'm not really saving any money, but I'm paying the money to my own family to enable them to buy a suitable house in a city with very expensive housing. Plus, I actually have access to it all, which I didn't when it was in storage. So, if I need something I can look for it rather than having to go out and rebuy the item. (I can't tell you how many multiples I have of certain kitchen utensils.)

And I'm going through the boxes one at a time, getting rid of the junk and actually doing something with the stuff that means something to me.

You're always welcome to come check out my blog, if you haven't already. I've done some things wrong, I've done some things right and I'd be very happy if my hubby were more a part of the process. But I'll get where I'm going one step at a time.

I hope the 30 day extension helps you get current!...

I hope the 30 day extension helps you get current! Not until after reading his book The Total Money Makeover has my husband ever been totally on board with our budget and financial plans. Now he is listening to Dave's radio show 5 nights a week, selling some of the things he doesn't need or use to generate cash, and working hard at helping me with the budget and cash envelopes. I am amazed! Maybe you could try to get your husband to read Dave Ramsey's book or listen to the show?
